Dining chair seats

Strip existing seat or back: £20, recover top of seat or front of seat back: £25. A full traditional reupholstery job – webbing, foam, fleece, top cover, bottoming cloth, fire retardant spray – comes to £60 per seat/back. Any materials are in addition.

Roman Blinds

An unlined blind, length up to 60cm, costs £80. For every 40cm beyond, add £30. For a lined blind, add £5 per 40cm, for lined and interlined add £10 per 40cm, includes materials. Blinds wider than the usable fabric width: 1.5x the above prices.

A cassette or a wooden batten is around £60 depending on the blind’s width. When choosing the main fabric, bear in mind that a tighter weave looks more fitted, and a loose weave, such as linen, looks more relaxed.

Cushions

Basic cushions: £20, box cushion: £40, Seat cushions for e.g. bay windows are more. special features like buttoning or piping are in addition.

Armchair upholstery

Depending on the size of your armchair, the scope and its condition, it’s likely to be between £150 and £800. Taking down existing upholstery may take a while and might throw up some unwanted surprises.

Headboards

£150 for plain headboards, +£120 for making a bordered one which also has piping. In addition, I can supply the upholstery materials and the board. which I can shape to your preference.

Curtains

I calculate my prices based on size and add something for the heading. Materials are included.

  • Unlined curtains are £10 per square metre.
  • Lined curtains (ivory cotton sateen) are £20 per square metre. The corners are mitred.
  • Interlined curtains (cotton sateen plus thicker ‘bump’ or lighter ‘domette’) are £30 per square metre. The curtain rail needs to be substantial.
  • Headings per metre: £10 for pull-up and ‘Wave’ heading tape, £20 for handmade headings e.g. double pleated.

Alterations, tiebacks, valances, headboards …

Remove existing lining: add together the length and width of your curtain and multiply by £5. Re-lining with cream cotton sateen is £12 per square metre, including all materials.

Loose chair covers, e.g. for dining chairs

Small projects: ca. £60, larger projects: up to ca. £180, depending on level of detail needed.
